Be My Team
Super Bowl 41½ was last week. It was a great game, worthy of its title. I’m sure these teams will meet again. This game itself was a fascinating study of team.
I’m looking at a different notion of team. Let’s say that all of you reading this are my team. What can that mean? You only know each other and communicate with each other coincidentally…Only some of you communicate with me and even then haphazardly.
But you all at least hear my requests - and whether accepted or not, that gives you a certain uniqueness.
I also say that the addition of a body of notions to you can constitute you as a team. The analogy to sports teams is that you people constitute a team even when the game is over… the way a marine remains a marine forever. Remnants of what they had as a team stick around.
So perhaps there are inculcated beliefs that can keep team alive, to return strongly when needed. What are my team beliefs? Instead of answering this (as if I knew) – What do you see?
Useful Quotations
Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.

To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart.

Hard work spotlights the character of people: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don't turn up at all.
Sam Ewig
If anything goes bad, I did it. If anything goes semi-good, then we did it. If anything goes really good, then you did it. That's all it takes to get people to win football games.
Paul “Bear” Bryant
It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.

Why Is This Not a Team?
What you and I call logic
lives in a black and white world,
where everything is either known,
or unknown and can be known,
or unknown and maybe can’t
be known.
And from the known
We work to discover
the old unknown.
We then assume about
everything else
And we make
all these groundless
maybes
act like our new facts.
It is not wrong to reason in that way;
it's even necessary.
We have to make "simplifying assumptions".
We havet o theorize and we have to reify,
And act as if they're true.
What's dangerous is
we forget "as if they were true"
dangerous not to know
that's how we do it And most of us don't know it.
