Rolling

We’ve all noticed the difference between going uphill and downhill. I never noticed it as much as I did when I took my first roller coaster ride (it was the Cyclone in Coney Island.) If it weren’t for the anticipation, that first uphill ride was tedious – it seemed as if the cars were laboring, struggling to make it. But the view grew more and more beautiful and the anticipation mounted.

Years later I saw a graph of the exponential function y = exp(x). This was the opposite of a roller coaster, yet it was the same. The curve seems almost flat, rising so slowly, so slowly … and then it takes off – it zooms up.

Well, that’s often how projects are, how plans come to fruition. You start slowly, overcoming inertia, pushing against your own resistance and the normal barriers that newness often faces. It sometimes seems like real efforting. When I studied this it was called ‘concentration’ – putting ten in and getting one out, working super-hard, well outside your comfort zone.

But the top of the roller coaster is reached; as is the cusp of the exponential growth curve. That’s the stage called ‘momentum,’ which quickly goes past one in one out and you soon put one in and get ten out. A consummation devoutly to be wished…

Well, what they don’t say is that you can feel its approach… The view very near the top is different; your eyes see new horizons; the air smells different; the ground noise shifts; it’s happening... And … zoom.

My coaching practice has become more accessible and more affordable.

You are my subscribers – friends, long time readers, people who care. I invite you specifically to participate in the second free "Success Principles" workshop. If not you, you know someone who you know will love it. This course has proven to be an exceptional introduction to the benefits of coaching as well as a valuable refresher course for those already familiar with coaching… But there’s more than that – I’ve restructured my subsequent coaching using a similar group format. My website is similarly redesigned to reflect this.

The Feedback on The Success Principles teleseminar, designed by Jack Canfield, has been extraordinary! This is typical:

I love being part of your Success Principles group.. It’s a novel way to stay plugged in.. I’ve done a lot of work …and – your TeleClass is like “Accent” -  It’s ‘waking up’ my inner compass, and reminding me of just who I am, for myself, my family and for the world.  Accepting anything less is not acceptable.  Being part of your class is great – it’s energizing and is making a big difference in what’s going on between my ears on a daily basis.  Thanks for ‘re-lighting my fire’ Michael!

Starting Monday, October 1st (next week) we are starting our next free Success Principles Teleseminar (7:30 – 8:30 EDT). Only 3 slots remain.

The Struggle

 Getting those pants on
when your stomach doesn’t fit your mind
requires a stretch
of more than imagination.
a willingness to inhale and
never let it out
I have heard it cannot be done
vertically
Maybe it does take
imagination
and perseverance,
an escape from your zone of comfort
and into your zone of dreams.

But late that night
when you
at last
release that zipper,
unhook those slacks,
provide some slack
and let them drop -

Can heaven offer more?
